A Little Bit About Me...

I use a variety of teaching styles, i.e cooperative learning, learning centers, interactive learning, sight and tactile learning. The school system I am in emphasizes Differentiated Instruction. I believe I make a difference in student's lives both educationally and as a role model.
My experience as a teacher began when I was in the U.S. Navy, I was an Financial and Department Training instructor. After retiring from the Navy I went to work in the school system as a security assistant. After one year I resigned and went to Norfolk State University and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a major concentration in Learning Disabled and a minor in Emotionally Disturbed. Ten years later I earned a Master's Degree in Education from Cambridge College. A Little Bit About Me...

While studying in college to become an elementary teacher I sought out many opportunities to practice my new skills and found them in all levels of academia from helping first graders learn to read to assisting my peers with their college papers. Since graduating, I have continued to find diverse ways to build upon my experience to become proficient in many areas. I have worked in settings in which children and adults know very little English as well as a classroom geared toward the gifted and talented students and finally overseas tutoring homeschooled children.
