As a graduate of Pfeiffer University's Pre Medical program, I feel that I am qualified to tutor students in the fields of math and science. I graduated Magna Cum Laude and finished in the top ten in my class. With a double major in Pre-Med and Biology, and a minor in Chemistry, I have gained understanding of these areas and can help other students learn and understand the concepts presented in these particular subjects. In high school, I tutored Geometry and Algebra. In college, I tutored Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Calculus. I am an avid believer in authentic learning and have taught using differential instruction for many years. I have six children of my own and know that every child learns differently, even when they come from the same family. I believe the majority of children can master the material they are presented in school, but it is a matter of time. Many children take a little more time to understand the concepts and master the skills needed to move on to the next level. Sadly many of these children aren't given the time to do it and are just passed on to the next level. By doing this they fall further and further behind until they become discouraged to the point of quitting. I desire to reach those children. I have been teaching Physics, AP Physics, and Physical science for the last four years. I graduated with an AS in Physics from Midland College in Texas and then with a BS degree from NC State in science education with a specialty in Physics. My students have a 97% passing rate on their EOC's. I use many real world examples and hands on demonstration to gain understanding with the children. I use a lead by example approach with the math, and give consistent feedback with their work to ensure understanding.
