My comments on tutoring Algebra I : I took Honors Algebra I in eighth grade, but have continued to use these skills in all of my subsequent math and science courses.

I have helped my classmates and have had one official student as of this summer. However, I have learned how to explain concepts so that students dont just memorize, they will gain a thought process and applicable knowledge that will enable them to solve even the most complex problems. Having this mentality of preparation and success will being them to reach their goals.

My experience as a teacher has nurtured within me a deep respect for children as thinkers, and ultimately "real" people. In my position at Spence's Farm, I was responsible for a group of 5-8 year olds. I enjoyed being with kids, who inspired me to observe and innovate, two talents that I had to perfect in order to develop fun and effective lesson plans and field trips. After graduating college I taught elementary K-8th grade in NYC. I taught for one year and decided to live Paris, France teaching English. I lived in Paris, France for 1.5 years then moved to Rome, Italy, again teaching English. My experiences were wonderful as I met people who really enjoyed learning English and needed it for work. After 6 months I returned to the states and taught at a Junior High School on the Lower eastside of NYC. I left teaching after 10 years to market computers.
