My comments on tutoring Pre-Calculus : I taught Pre-Calculus for DeVry University for over fifteen years.

I have taught both high school and college level courses. I have also had a job in which I helped create a data base of the K-12 Objectives in Mathematics for forty-nine states. I also have worked as a quality assurance reviewer for the development of Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus curriculum for online high school courses. I have tutoring for the Arizona AIMS tests and currently am tutoring an 16 hour review of the mathematics portion of the GED exam.
I am able to break a complex problem into small, discrete steps which the students seem to appreciate. I find that teaching works best if you tailor the material to your audience - i.e. you don't want to lose them OR bore them. Use what they know as a foundation to build on to teach new concepts.
