Calculus I is one of my top subjects! I taught Calculus I for DeVry University for over fifteen years. I also was a curriculum assurance reviewer for a year in the development of Calculus I for online high schools.

I have taught both high school and college level courses. I have also had a job in which I helped create a data base of the K-12 Objectives in Mathematics for forty-nine states. I also have worked as a quality assurance reviewer for the development of Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus curriculum for online high school courses. My comments on tutoring Calculus I : Been a while since I remembered it. Will need to brush up myself.

My experience in Tutoring is a bit fleeting only having done it in odds and ends; non-professionally at best, but as I see progress in others, it inspires ME to grow. Also knowing that I have helped in some small part further encourages me to help out more. I don't have any track record to speak of but I what I hope to provide for those under my wing is a chance to believe, as motivator Les Brown would say, "It's Possible that I can succeed!" THAT'S what students REALLY need to know.
One on One is the ideal method for me as it allows time dedicated to the tutored. It makes them feel special and appreciated and also allows time for coaching and motivation.

I find that teaching works best if you tailor the material to your audience - i.e. you don't want to lose them OR bore them. Use what they know as a foundation to build on to teach new concepts. If material is difficult or unfamiliar to your class it's important to be prepared in advance with several approaches to get the material across.
