My comments on tutoring Sign Language : I am fluent in sign language I learned in school and I also had the opportuinty to experience it hands on with a spouse who has been deaf since birth.

I am fluent in sign laguage, I am in school now, so I am not certified yet but I can teach what is and or has been taught to me. I also have a spouse that is deaf and has taught me alot as well so I have hands on experience as well. I eager to teach what I have learned , simple do to the fact that I am a strong believer that the world should show more interest in other languages than there own, I choose this because, watched how my spouse struggled to be understood when we went out. And I wanted to change the way people looked at his situation, he not disabled I look at him the way I look at the Hispanics that come here and are not understood, now there are more interpreters for them I want to do the same for our deaf community.

A Little Bit About Me...

I recently relocated to the Huntersville area. I recently graduated from UNCW with a degreee in Psychology with a focus on children. Since middle school, working with children has been my passion. I realized my dream after some of my cousins came over to America from the war torn country of Liberia and were having a very hard time adjusting. I was accepted to UNC Chapel Hill's Master's Program for Rehabilitation but declined after fearing it would take me down the path of working with the elderly instead of working with children. Coming from a family of teachers, I have been involved in the educational field all of my life. I began my educational career by working in morning and after school programs. Later I continued in education by working at the nationally accredited Early Childhood Research Center teaching 2-5 year olds. While completing my master's degree I was a substitute teacher in the city of Buffalo, NY and an ESL and Spanish tutor at the university level. Once I completed my master's degree I taught Spanish for students in grades 5-12 in the inner city of Buffalo and the suburb of West Seneca, NY.
