A Little Bit About Me...

I have always enjoyed tutoring students and seeing them "get" the subjects we are touching on. The look on their face during this moment is priceless. I fully understand that everyone learns things in different ways. While one student may be able to memorize and understand facts one way, say by repetition, another student may learn the information by understanding the background and context that it comes from. I am very patient and flexible with students and realize that if they do not understand the material that it is not their fault, but rather I need to try a different approach with them. A good education is not only valuable in life, but I feel that students gain self confidence when they see their grades improve and they actually understand their class work. I am a graduate student at ASU studying Education Administration. I have experience working with students of all ages 5-17. I currently work in a middle school and spend my weekends teaching life skills to troubled youth. I have taught for over 6 years and I plan to continue teaching for as long as I can. I enjoy working with children and sharing my passion for learning. I participate in ongoing professional development to be a better educator and I am always for looking for new ways of teaching children.
My teaching style is very hands-on, exploratory and structured. I expect my students to work hard, stay focused, and give effort. I can work with any skill level of student and I motivated to try different techniques to ensure they not only learn the material but also apply it. I believe all children can learn, but it is up to me to find what works for the individual.
