I was not a formal tutor, but I spent a lot of time with junior classmates helping them to understand their projects and meet their deadlines. After graduating, I worked as an instructor at Mendocino College. I taught computer science classes to young adults from different backgrounds and with different learning styles. "How many different ways can I teach a concept?" is the mentality I use when working with students. Every student learns in his/her own unique way. Being creative, adaptive, and fun are essential. I live for that "ah-ha moment" where everything clicks. It's no secret that we succeed in the things that we love doing. I have a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. While earning this degree I was given the opportunity to gain experience in working in various classrooms at many different grade levels. As the school I taught at was private, the students were very competitive. I found my lectures and class activities reached 90% of the students. The remaining 10% were the students I especially loved to instruct. These students had difficulty learning the subject in a traditional fashion, so I was forced to explain the subject from a different angle. The individual attention I gave students before and after class proved to be invaluable.
