I enjoy teaching and helping children; after I graduated from Chico State I started my teaching career at Grace Christian Academy teaching sixth grade. I have been substituting for the last 10 years at different K-12 schools in the area. I have spent my spare time coaching baseball and football at both East Nicolaus and Wheatland High School. I devoted eight years to each schools program. A Little Bit About Me...

I have a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. While earning this degree I was given the opportunity to gain experience in working in various classrooms at many different grade levels. I feel most confident in my teaching skills when working one-on-one with students or in small groups. My age areas of expertise are Kindergarten-6th grade.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style would be that of Guided Discovery. This is a highly interactive style which leads the student to uncover the answer themselves as opposed to the teacher simply reciting the answer to them. Guided Discovery requires the student to learn by doing therefore developing necessary problem solving and deductive skills that will make them better learners and thinkers both now and in the future. I implement this style by asking leading questions, giving examples, making analagies and asking the student what they think or ask them to explain how they came upon a certain conclusion. This ensures that the desired cognitive skills and strategies are being learned.
