Computer Tech/Geek looking to teach.

Completed small computer systems course in the United States Marine Corps in 1999. Self-taught html while in the Marine Corps. Completed Computer Networking and Hardware course at Computer Tutor in 2002. Passed Computer Hardware & Assembly course with a B at Columbia College in Sonora, CA (2008-2009). Recently partially updated pre-existing web site, bawdypartz.com, for local business owner.
One on one is preferable. Hands-on training with my personal laptop or student's personal computer. No set curriculum since everyone is at a different stage in their computer experience. I will answer questions as they are presented. No lecturing.

Because each student, young or old, responds to different learning stimuli (graphical or verbal) at diffrent rates, I always try to get to know my student first. I then try to tailor my tutoring to how they respond best and retain what they've learned. I love helping students. With my strong, positive feelings towards higher education, I believe every student should take pride in their studies and enjoy the material; and educational material can only be enjoyed if it is understood! I honestly believe that students need to put in the effort to learn themselves. If there isn't a basis of knowledge to go on (whether understood or not), the student would not benefit from tutoring. A tutor's job is not to TEACH the student, it is to help the student understand the material that has been taught and/or read. I refuse to "do the homework" for the student, because I have learned from experience (mostly personal) that this method does not help a student understand.

Throughout my life, I have always felt very strong about achieving a high level of education. As a older sibling to a child that had a learning disability, I felt it was my responsiblity to help him achieve a high school diploma. From the age of six years old to his senior year in high school, I tutored my brother in all subjects, from math and english to electives. From this experience, I was able to help other children improve their level of education as well.
I enjoy teaching and helping all children. I am a strong believer that all children can be taught all subjects, and should be given the opportunity to do just that.
