After graduating from art school in 1983, I have worked for numerous screen print and souvenir companies in Colorado, Texas and New Mexico. I was responsible for creating various ddesignsm, mostly cartoons and humour, to go on a variety of different items (picture frames, mugs, etc.) In the 1990 I taught cartooning classes at Trinidad State Jr. College and have written and illustrated 3 books on Colorado history and folklore. The style of teaching that works best for me is one of "continuous encouragement." I first find out what the students strengths and weaknesses are then focus on how to improve on them. It's slow and steady but seems to work.

I have recently retired from the U.S. Army as a medic. During my service, I was frequently responsible for both formal and informal teaching and training. I learned to easily adapt to various learning styles, learning barriers, and researching subjects. While still in the service, I utilized my lunch breaks and evenings to further my education and emerged with my AA and completed Nurse Assistant training while still serving and my BS only one year later; two months after retiring.
