Experience Summary
I have assembled a wide variety of experiences during my years of work and education. I have worked as a journalist, advertising copy writer and designer; and teacher of adult learners in the areas of fine art, art history, and garden design. For 16 years, I owned a operated a successful garden design business and, more recently, taught in a local elementary school for six years as a fifth grade teacher, specializing in reading and, especially, writing. I occasionally write for garden publications and continue to create artworks and gardens.
Teaching Style
My goal as a teacher is to "fit" the material that needs to be learned into each student's character and mindset. Everyone excels at something -- it is my job to find out what that is and how to make that work so that new material can be incorporated. I work to help students achieve their potential and strive to help them feel confident that they can do well.
