I graduated from Alabama A&M University with Honors in 2007. I've obtained a BS in chemistry with a minor in Mathematics. During my undergraduated career I have participated in several research programs which have provided me extensive learning in various areas in the chemistry field while also improving my writing style, and communication skills. I have completed a year of graduate study at the University of Memphis, where I served as a General Chemistry study session and lab instructor. I believe each student learns differently and as an instructor it is my goal to find the students learning style to help the student achieve their personal best. I have a high level of patience when teaching science and math due to the subjects difficulty. I have a strong desire to leave my students with a understanding that will last them a lifetime.

My teaching style can best be described as varied! I believe that children learn in numerous ways, so as an educator it is my responsibility to provide multiple experiences - visual, oral, tactile, etc. A person walking by my classroom would see children smiling, working in groups, accomplishing projects, and would hear noise. After graduating from Vanderbilt University I taught 5th grade for 2 years while working on my Master's at TSU. I then moved to the Knoxville area and taught K until my son was born in 2000. We then moved to Wisconsin where I taught in various after school programs until my 2 children were old enough for preschool. I then went back part time and taught 4 K until my 3rd child was born in 2005. Throughout this entire time I tutored various children ages 8 - 15 years if age.

I have worked with children of many different ages and backgrounds, and have learned something from each and every one of them. My hope is that I have not only provided them with academic instruction and learning experiences that will prove beneficial to them, but that I have also instilled in them a love for learning that will last a lifetime and people skills that will allow them to be conscientious, contributing members of society. I am a high school honors graduate with a BA in English and teacher certification in English, Spanish, psychology, and special education. I am national board certified in special education. I have tutored in Memphis, and have also taught learning strategies. I am retired and eager to find part time work.
