I have a teaching style that is very adaptive to any individual. I am very patient and understanding that multiple approachs to grasp a subject may need to happen. I try to base all knowledge around concepts instead of rogue memorizing. I prefer 1:1 tutoring but have experience lecturing to large audiences. I have always been interested in science and using that science to benefit humanity. In college I pursued a bachelor degree in Biology and was president of molecular/mircobiology club and was an anatomy, organic chemistry, and physics tutor. As an undergraduate I was able to be involved in forensic DNA research. After graduating I entered medical school where I have pursued research interests in pediatric infectious diseases, and middle ear dysfunction. I believe that everybody can learn and comprehend math. Math is an intimidating subject for most people, so my goal as a teacher is to show my students that it is more like a puzzle. With all puzzles, you just need to know the steps to solving it in order to be successful, and my job is to teach these steps. It bothers me when people say how much they hate math, so when I’m working with students, my goal is to make my students never feel intimidated. I do this by giving them real-world examples to show them that they can succeed if they can see it apply to their life. I think with the right instruction, anybody can learn math and be successful. I am a recent graduate from a liberal arts college which has allowed me the opportunity to be immersed in a variety of subjects. I graduated with a BA in Honors Mathematics and a BA in Physics and am going to continue my education to pursue a PhD in Computational and Systems Biology.
