I am a former social worker, "turned teacher".

I use lesson plans and schedules left by the teacher, as well as textbooks and other materials like workbooks which are familiar to the children. I leave a written synopsis of the day for the teacher, including notes on behavioral issues or good/helpful behaviors.

I have had 8 years + experience as a substitute teacher, in high school, middle school and elementary school. A Little Bit About Me...

I am a few years out of high school, and I've taken several college classes. My AP knowledge spans almost every subject. I can help with almost all high school level classes and below. The various sciences are probably my best subjects, however my knowledge of Biology is fairly limited. I have tutored a few High School Freshman before in a program called "Senior Mentoring" I have also helped out a few family friends to get the grade to graduate.
This really depends on the subject, however, I like to do drills to keep basic skills sharp, and to learn new skills. Each student is different, and will need slightly adjusted methodology. I'm also very open to suggestion.

School wasn't one of my favorite places to go especially when I wasn't doing so hot in some of my classes. But then I found fun and easy ways to study. It turned out that I actually enjoyed going to school afterwards and making it a goal to get good grades. That is my goal with potential students. I want them to enjoy studying for school. Yes it may be a lot of work but the student can make it easier by using flashcards or writing down the problem until it sticks into their, whatever helps them. I want to help them to see how easy school can actually be for them. I believe that the best way for a tutor to assist the student is to adapt to the individual’s learning style.
