My comments on tutoring Trigonometry : Have taught Trigonometry at two community colleges and at ITT-Tech. Total teaching experience in the subject is 32 years

I am capable of both structured and informal teaching styles depending upon the situation. I find that when smaller increments of course instruction is followed up with the student demonstrating proficiency and comprehension the overall learning experience is maximized. Repetition is normally the best way to comprehend not only the material presented but it allows the student to assimilate the steps and formulas simulataneously.

My formal education includes a B.S. degree in Chemistry and an M.S. in Chemical Engineering both from Purdue University. I enjoy teaching and took the opportunity to serve as a Chemistry T.A. (teacher's assistant) as an undergraduate. My master's program also included teaching Chemical Engineering classes to undergraduates. In my experience, fear and self-consciousness interfere the most with learning. This seems especially true of arithmetic and higher levels of math. I don't believe that children should force themselves to memorize something they don't understand just to please a teacher. It is my job to find a way to make it clear.
