My comments on tutoring Chess : Fun game that take strategy and planning.

I obtained a B.S. in Biology, with a concentration in aquatic science, from Wittenberg University in 2006. During my undergraduate studies, I tutored elementary students in math and science twice a week for two years. After college, I moved into the marine science profession. In August of 2008, I started teaching High School Biology I, Earth and Space Science, and Physical Science to students in Polk County. In addition, after school hours were spent with two students taking AP Biology classes. Both students achieved a 4 or higher on their placement exams. My tutored students reported an increase in their ability to record class notes, study, and take tests. My previous tutoring experiences have included subjects such as; elementary science, elementary math, Algebra (I & II), Geometry, Pre- Calculus, Anatomy, Physiology, Biology (both College and HS level), HS Chemistry, basic w ... read more

I got the tools you need to succeed !

I have taught high school students for five years now. However, I have taught college freshman for a year only. But, I do know what I am doing and I know how to help students. I am patient with everyone so I can communicate better and understand my students problems so, I have always succeeded in helping my students.
I am currently a college sophomore at Florida Institute of Technology studying Computer Engineering so I know the problems a high school or school or college student would face in studies. Therefore, I will be able to communicate with m y students better and help them excel in studies and eliminate their weak points in any subject. I have no teaching style since I believe that to succeed one needs to seriously study and teach and cover your weakest subjects first.

Ever since I was in sixth grade, I have had opportunities to help children learn and see the benefits first hand from what I taught them. When I graduated from high school, I followed a different career path, but after a terrible car accident that left me unable to fly airplanes, I made a decision to go back to school and follow my love for teaching children. When I graduated from University of Central Florida at age 31 I was blessed to learn I was going to have my first child. I decided it was not the right time for me to teach full time, so I substituted in Brevard County schools, tutored many children, and raised 3 boys of my own. I know that I bring life skills, patience, and love along with my teaching credentials to help any child that may need me.
I do not have a particular teaching style. I am trained to teach different styles, but it is my goal to get to know every ch ... read more

First and foremost, I am passionate about education. I believe education is key to success for any person, young or old, as well as society as a whole. Before starting into my bachelor degree in Social Science Education at UCF, which I will finish in approx. one year, I worked at a Tutor Time in Phoenix, AZ. I worked with babies to 12 yr olds. I also volunteered at a live-in rehab center, which took in habituates and ex-cons. This year I have volunteered on a weekly basis at a local high school and elementary school, tutoring students in reading, writing, art, social studies, and economics.
My teaching style comes from much of who I am as a person. I am easy going and laid back. I enjoy having fun, but not at the cost of flagrant misbehavior. I believe children can and do make mistakes. It takes the proper coach to guide them in a direction of better choice making. As far as learni ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching and showing are synonymous and in some languages it is the same word. I am not an instructor. As a teacher & educator my principal aim is to clarify objectives and show the student (client) how s/he can reach her/his goals. I facilitate the process profesionally as well as wholeheartedly. From a personal perspective, I feel good about what I do ONLY when it is validated by the student's satisfaction.
Due to my extensive background in languages & cultures, I have been able to address individual learning and studying needs quickly, effectively, and definitively. As a multicultural linguist in the field of education, I have been on the forefront of curriculum design and I have presented at five TESOL conferences. Furthermore, my deep-structural understanding of a language's grammar allows me to analyze linguistic needs and perspectives inductively.

While I was in college I began working as a teachers assistant at a Montessori School, I soon started privately tutoring students after school at the same location. I am a very hard working, organized, and outgoing person. I tutored students in Math, English, History, Behavioral Sciences and also taught private dance lessons.
I was raised in the Montessori teaching environment, so I am very involved with hands-on teaching methods, and relating subjects to real life experiences. I enjoy watching children grow and progress into self-motivated, independent individuals, who are self-confident in many areas. I believe all children no matter what age have the potential to do amazingly well in school and with their education depending on how much individual attention is placed on them, including constant positive reinforcement.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style varies with the needs of the learner. Having been trained to assess the primary modality of a learner (visual, oral/aural, kinesthetic or tactile), I can plan activities and approaches that will best use the student's strengths to overcome challenges. I think humor is very important in learning and teaching. I work well with students who are able but resistant to learning, and those who have a particular challenge that they will admit. Because I believe that everyone can learn something, and no one can learn everything, I focus on helping students win at learning. I try to teach students how to learn, as well as mastering content, so that they are prepared no matter what the content area might be.
I have been teaching children since I was a child myself, first in community settings, and then in church and later, in elementary and middle schools. I train teachers f ... read more
