My comments on tutoring Chess : Fun game that take strategy and planning.

I have always approached a teaching lesson as a learning opportunity. Learning is a fundamental skill. If you don't have your basic fundamentals, your student will have difficulty advancing. So, I always start with basic fundamentals such as; note taking, study skills, and comprehension! All sciences demand the ability to link concepts together. Ex. cells make up tissues, tissues make up organs, organs make up organ systems,etc.....! By understanding the make-up of cellular structures and relating that to tissue functions the students can fully understand a subject. This proves true with all subjects. By impowering the student with good base fundamentals, my students find it easier to link concepts together.

My comments on tutoring Chess : I have played as a hobby for many years.

I am very easy going and move at the pace of the subject!. What's most important is to ensure that the information has been relayed properly to the student...and said student has retained the information successfully.

A Little Bit About Me...

My experience is more hands-on and personal, I suppose. I love history and write constantly, in addition to having a great interest in photography and television. I majored in American Studies which focused on history and culture in the US, and minored in Creative Writing and Digital Arts. It is a dream of mine to help others learn, as I think college and knowledge is an incredible and necessary aspect that people need.
In my experience, I do not teach but simply assist people who need it. In college I helped my friends by explaining how to correct their writing, and offering advice. I am patient and willing to help as best as I can without being condescending towards students.

I have tutored people in math before. Their grades have ranged from 7th-10th grade. I have also helped friends in classes in college that have to do with statistics and other math classes. When I was in high school, the highest math class I had ever taken was Calculus BC. This was the highest math class that my school offered so I believe that I could people pass their math classes in high school and possibly College. I also scored a 730 on the Math section of the SAT.

For many years, I have always equated my personal happiness with my scholastic achievements. As an International Baccalaureate diploma recipient and a graduate of the University of Florida, I continue to strive for excellence when it comes to my education. While in college, I earned a bachelor's degree in political science, which has enabled me to gain an acute understanding of many areas of politics, including public administration, policy formulation, as well as many facets of environmental politics. While pursuing my degree, I presented many reports and wrote dozens of research papers and essays on a wide array of topics which had a direct positive effect on the development of my excellent communication and grammatical skills. I have tutored students on and off for a handful of years now, in math topics like algebra and geometry, as well as Spanish, and English.

A Little Bit About Me...

I love teaching, and working with students. Everyone can learn, and the educator is ultimately responsible to providing multiple styles of learning for students to discover and connect to learning. Tutorial enrichment through remediation is most important for students to grasp and exhibit mastery over certain strands and goals. However, students learn by movement, doing, hearing, seeing, and repeating. It is also essential to "know thy students" and provide a holistic approach so that students can be given many approaches to the learning experience.
I have been teaching in the classroom for about 16 years. Areas of teaching experience has been Language Arts, History, Geography, and now Personal Character Development to High School Seniors about to graduate. I have also tutored in every subject listed above. I simply love to teach, and am very good at it. It, I believe, is a ... read more

I believe that education comes best from experience. If you can see it, touch it and explore it then you are more likely to understand it. Mathematics is a subject which has become taboo. It is too often associated with functions and formulas that have been removed from what is real and planted solely in a textbook. My goal is remove math from a textbook and give students the opportunity to see and experience math in the world around them.
After graduating from college with a degree in Mathematics Education, I taught High School level Mathematics for 4 years. Three of those years were spent in Western New York teaching Geometry and Calculus and the other here in Florida teaching Geometry and Trigonometry. During that time, I created and implemented an alternative 3rd year math class highlighting real mathematics and problemsolving in nature, architecture and literature. For t ... read more

Each student is different and has a unique way of learning concepts. I believe that ALL children have the ability to learn. They may, however, need to recognize their own potential in order to overcome challenges. I strive to help students realize their hidden abilities, so that they can better understand their academic subjects.
I have a B.S degree in Electronic Engineering and a Masters in Engineering, with about 20 years of experience in that field. I have always enjoyed the academic aspects of my work, and I have tutored students from 6-13 years of age in mathematics and reading.

My teaching style is that we do not move on until you (the student) "get it". If that is an hour or two, that's fine, or a week or two, that is fine as well. I need the student to know the material in order to move on.
I have always been involved in the teaching industry. Weather that is after school care or tutoring and mentoring. I was an Americorps Volunteer from 2000-2001 working within education. I was an in class tutor for kindergarden, 3rd and 5th grades. I also taught at Apopka Middle and drop out prevention at Apopka High School. I facilitated a boys group every Tuesday night and a youth group every Wednesday night. I did summer camps and tutoring after school as well.
