Drawing is one of my top subjects! Highly skilled in draftsmenship(photorealism), cartooning and storyboarding.

I like to encourage kids on how to see the world in simple shapes and lines; I feel as though learning art is learning how to "see". My students find that they have more ability than they previously believed, and that believing in themselves is the most important asset that an artist, or anyone, can have. I help them become confident! My techniques stretch beyond the paper and canvas so that, in the end, whether they become skilled artists or not, they learn to appreciate their own "unique-self" and individuality.
My artistic background is wide and rich. A Little Bit About Me...

I have taught and been certified in four states. Grades 7-9 is the level I prefer, though I have taught at the Junior College level also. History is my major, and having spent much of my youth on the European continent with my father's duty assignments, it is easy to teach the events that have led to the present situations. English and education were my minors, and they have become essential living in an area where more Spanish is spoken than our native tongue. Also the impact of "computer english"has destroyed in many the ability to communicate in a formal manner, with language and vocabulary necessary to achieve success outside the academic sphere.

As a student in Health Science, i.e. Medical Technology, I worked in a genetics laboratory for 14 years learning lab instrumentation, trouble-shooting, cytogenetics and professional etiquette. Lectures as well as public presentations of newly discovered genetic abnormalities was my passion. I truly enjoyed preparing and presenting these exciting talks. I decided to change careers and look into the education field. I have been working on obtaining my Alternative Teaching License and will complete my coursework for this by the end of May, 2011. I provide a rich, diverse, and creative set of skills and tools (for auditory, visual, and tactile/kinesthetic learners) to assist students, ages five to ten, in their reading, writing, math and social studies subjects.
I've provided tutoring for low-income students on a month-to-month basis around the Albuquerque area. My substitute teaching experience with Rio Rancho district has offered many opportunities for growth as a teacher in many different grade levels and settings. I have provided teaching support at one pre-school, six elementary schools, two middle schools, and one high school with coverage in most state-required subjects.
