My teaching philosophy is focused on teachers being facilitators for students to construct their own knowledge and making learning relevant and purposeful to the students. When teaching, I think about each student's individual learning styles and adapt my lessons to fit those needs. I really try to make learning fun and make sure students understand why they are learning something. I feel that with those things in place, they will be more motivated to learn and continue to learn throughout their lives. As a graduate of the State University of NY at Albany, I am very interested in helping others learn. I hold 2 degrees, BA in English and MS in Education/English s a Second Language. I taught school for 4 years and after many years of working in administration, I would like to tutor students in English and mathematics. I enjoy teaching children of all ages and adults. Before earning a BA in Biology at Skidmore College and after graduating high school, I took three years off to play hockey. Concurrently, I enrolled in classes at Mount Wachusett Community College in Massachusetts and tutored in the math department. I tutored students in algebra, geometry, pre-calculus, and some calculus. At Skidmore I continued in math, taking calculus I, II, and III, and linear algebra before focusing my attention on molecular biology.
