I was driven to achieve a high level of excellence in education based on my own families background and my own. Because I was overlooked it gave me the desire to help those that seemed mostlikely to not succeed. I earned a bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education while working full time and being a full time mom. I went on to earn my Masters in Education and Psychology/Counseling. A Little Bit About Me...

I am very aware that everyone learns at different levels and in different ways. I am observant and mindful of this in teaching. I have worked with children with special needs for many years. Also, teaching ESL has helped me become a strong teacher because it has made me excellent with non verbal communication. It is important to have a stimulating environment for students. I want my students to want to come to my classroom and become involved in the lessons. I believe in balance. I think it is important to have fun but also be productive. I have taught two years of middle school and home schooled my daughter. I have worked as a substitute teacher on and off for several years. My emphasis in college was English and Math so I feel very comfortable teaching either of these subjects as well as reading.
My teaching style is flexible. Students learn in different ways and at different paces. It is my job to discover how the students learn and what they respond best to. For some subjects, repetition is very important and for others a clearer understanding of the concepts involved is more valuable. I like to start with small skills and build on them.
