My vision and goal in working in education is to help students who are struggling and in need of help. These students can so often be overlooked or dismissed as failures, but I believe that all students have the capability to reach their goals. I strive to create a relationship with the student in which the tutoring creates an environment conducive to a common goal that we can share that will guide us to improving the student's life.

I enjoy mentoring others and giving them the benefit of my knowledge and skills. I have always had a "thirst" for knowledge and enjoy sharing with others. I believe that a big part of teaching is listening and observing. Not every student learns the same way, so it is important to be patient and try to understand what works best for the student. In many cases, examples are helpful in learning. Examples that are tailored to a specific student (e.g. drawing correlations to cooking for measurements, or sports for averages) can be a great basis for understanding concepts. I have done classroom teaching and one-on-one teaching. I prefer the one-on-one approach because it is so effective, and so satisfying for myself and the student when progress is made.
