Making A Difference

In May 2012, I received my bachelors degree in English with a Literature Emphasis and a minor in Writing. I graduated with a 3.6 g.p.a. (Cum Laude Honors.) Throughout college, I took various education courses that focused on educational philosophy and physiology, elementary and secondary concentrations, and students with disabilities. I was able to obtain 36 education credits and in 2009, I was admitted into the school of education at my university where I was able to engage in student teachings, researchers, and observations. I have earned my BS degree in Elementary Education. I student taught in first grade, and have taught for the last two years. My first year of teaching was at Eisenhower Middle School in Rockford, IL. As a graduate assistant at Northern Illinois University, I taught composition, primarily using popular culture as a topic for expository writing and developing critical thinking skills and techniques. A Little Bit About Me...

The description of my teaching style changes with each new class I receive. I am a strong believer in the Multiple Intelligence approach to teaching, as individual students learn in many different ways. In my classroom, expectations are explained at the beginning of each lesson. Because attention spans only last between 12 and 15 minutes, I make sure to rotate activities to insure that my students are engaged.
