Math is important to everyone...so is music.

During my sophomore year I started tutoring for the mathematics department, educating my peers in a wide variety of mathematical topics. This was a very enjoyable experience in which I took pride in my ability to instruct in mathematics such as calculus and statistics. During my junior year I started tutoring computer science on the side, which my students told me I was more proficient at than the college hired tutors. My senior year I was appointed a fellowship in the mathematics department during which I was in charge of the tutoring program. Calculus II is one of my top subjects!

In terms of online tutoring. I make use of a headset microphone and a touch tablet. As well as many free online applications, such as a whiteboard, Skype, and educational resources. During session I prefer to use the course work and text assigned to the student. Doing so allows for the structure of our sessions to easily mesh with those of the course.

I also have a partial degree in Accelerated Associates in Culinary Arts from Kendall College and a few classes in Computer Science in the Masters program in Computer Science and the University of Illinois Chicago. For the subjects I tutor, my style is 'pushing a pencil'. Only a genius can handle these subjects without doing problems. Everyone else, if they want to learn the subject must do problems. Usually the problems worked are the ones with answers in the back of the book. I'm careful not to do problems that are assigned as homework. Besides, I have all my books at home, and I know students will not have the same problems assigned as the ones I choose to do out of my 20 year old books.
