I can relate best with the student/youth.

I attended Rufus King World IB High school in Milwaukee, Wi, one of the most prestigious inner city high schools in the country. I excelled in IB Geography, Chorus, and Theatre. I was one of those kids who never did any homework, but passed my tests. Everyone came to me for help on projects, homework, ect. I feel that I didn't fully utilize my strengths in school as I could have, so I would love to share that with those who need it now.
Very relaxed, easy going, friendly. I feel less pressure and non stressful settings help students learn better. They can relate to a younger person who is more in tune with youth and someone who understands them.

I like to make songs that children can learn from and I also like to make colorful diagrams and charts that make it more easier to read and remember.
I have done school tutoring and some tutoring with younger family memebers who are dyslexic and who have ADHD. I love working with children. I believe that all children can learn, but each child learns in a different way. In order to help a student, you must find out how they learn. You also must find their passion. With this information (passion and learning style), you can help any student succeed. Many of my students have been considered as slow, but once I began working with them, I realized that they just lacked the basic skills. This past year, all of my students have increased at least one grade level in reading and math. Many have achieved grade level performance.

A Little Bit About Me...

When I was in college I was introduced to an after-school program where I found a love for tutoring and working one-on-one or in small groups with children. When I graduated I taught Pre-K for a year and directed the after-school program I had volunteered at for the previous three years. When I first moved to North Carolina I became a kindergarten teacher and worked for a private tutoring company after school throughout that first year. Now I am teaching kindergarten and tutor privately after school.
I believe that children all have potential to learn and tapping into their potential is the job of the educator. A Little Bit About Me...

I am an optimist in the classroom. All kids can learn but only if they want to and the proper language is used to communicate. I use an encouraging, cooperative method to gradually uncovering the essence of the plan. I will not move on until they 'get it'. This may mean using various analogies throughout the lesson in order to take the knowledge and pass it on to the students. I feel hands on is very valuable in accelerating the ' getting it' part.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have left the corporate after 18 years to pursue teaching. I have two bachelors degrees in physics & mech. engineering. I want to put these to use and make an impact on kids in my community. I have been pursuing a lateral teaching entry position, while substituting. I am mentoring with a local teacher and have finished a course in effective teaching. I am tutoring at my church and reading education material, along with boning up on science material.
I am by nature an encourager. I am optimistic every child can learn -- the trick is to spark an interest in the subject and communicate the material to them in an understandable way. For the past three years I have been actively teaching at the middle school and college level. In addition to tutoring during high school, I have worked at an independent local tutoring company and at the local Huntington Learning Center since I've graduated college.
