I began working with children at the age of 10 in the capacity of babysitter/activities director. As a teen I began working in daycare centers and have worked in the capacity of teacher/assistant teacher/ director/owner. I have taught public school in Florida and the Bronx, NY over the past 5 years. After completing my undergraduate degree in English Literature at Florida State University, I worked as a substitute teacher in Hillsborough County for two years. In 2009, I completed my Master's Degree in Communication at University of South Florida while simultaneously employed at the Department of Special Education. I have been tutoring with Advanced Learners for 1 year and am currently an Adjunct Instructor of Public Speaking at HCC Dale Mabry.
Once while subbing, I entered a classroom where the students had been allowed to watch Jerry Springer on TV for the last two weeks. I couldn't let this continue, but I saw how emotional the class was about the show. I encouraged them to write their own talk show and told them we would perform it the next day. I find that connecting student's interest with the subject matter to be learned is the best way to teach.

Good High school student looking to make money,

I am a high schooler with good grades. I help many of my friends, and even their younger siblings with their school work. because im saving up for a car, i figure it would be smart for me to make a business out of it and make money to put towards my car. my current GPA is 3.8. i am currently enrolled in almost all AP classes, and a technical education class, along with a early child care class where we have a real preschoolers where toddlers go to school there. my current transportation is my mother, who is more than willing to go as long as its not too far.
