We have over 2 decades of experience in teaching, with specialties in K-12 and Adult education. We have taught courses at numerous colleges as well as for businesses, state and federal government buildings and for private tutoring. My approach to teaching is to provide what is needed, and sometimes that is not limited to the explicit task at hand. As an English teacher/tutor, I have often found that, rather than merely showing students how to recognize a complete sentence and use correct punctuation and grammar, the more important thing is to prove to them that they can think, and that they are intelligent. To this end, I use gentle Socratic questioning to stimulate students, loosen them up, get them interested, and increase their comfort.
