I am from Brazil. I speak Spanish, Portuguese and English. I taught English as a second language in Brazil also I taught Portuguese. I love teaching and have a passion for young people and enjoy seeing them learn. I live in Rainier Oregon and have been here for almost five years. Worked as Sub teacher's aide while living in Dickinson, ND. In the late 1990's I Tutored 4th and 8 th graders for the LEAP Test in Louisiana. This included reading, English, vocabulary and mathematics. The tutoring period lasted for 6 weeks prior to the LEAP test which was held in the spring.

I helped my nieces and nephews with reading, when they were young. I also, have naturally always been very good at reading. Friendly, helpful, adapts to learning style of the student. I worked as a computer instructor, from September 2009-May 2009, in Los Angeles, CA. I spent 9 months teaching various adults, how to use the computer programs Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. I taught students, in a classroom setting. I also, would do private lessons at the student's location. I also, have experience working with kids. I have 3 nieces, and 2 nephews. As they were growing up, I spent a lot of time with them.

I think teaching styles should differ based on the preferred learning style of the student. The teaching style should play on the strengths and preferences of that particular student. That being said, I foster a student-centered approach to learning. This approach encourages the student play an equal, active role in the learning process, rather than a passive role. A cooperative approach is important so the student can feel like he or she is an active and capable participant in learning the material. I also believe in leading by example and allowing the student to use me as a resource for reviewing their work. I have tutored children off and on since I was in high school. More recently, my time has been spent volunteering with The Giving Tree, where I tutored inner-city children after school and helped organize activities (museums, zoo, etc.) on the weekends.
