A Little Bit About Me...

I use several teaching styles. Whatever works for that particular student. Some students are visual. They need to see what you are talking about. Others are good listeners; they can listen and learn. Some students need to do. All students need practice and I try to provide them with plenty of practice to ensure that they have mastered the topic.
I started teaching in 1989. Not only I have tutored students on different grade levels, but also worked as a classroom teacher in grades Pre-k through High School. I have taught integrated math and algebra I & II. All of my students gave me a positive feedback. They understood the topic well and was able to pass assigned tests. I am more than capable of helping any student succeed. Teaching is my career and hobbie.

I have been tutoring since I was in high school. Between that and teaching Sunday School and Children's Church, I have more than ten years of experience. I have tutored children whose ages range from elementary school to high school. I have also tutored adults to help with college classes and help prepare for GED tests. I teach the Bible to children whose ages range from newborn to eight years.

My tutoring experiences have been all throughout my life helping friends and family better understand mathematics. I've tutored for pay just once, one night a week for one year. This was while I was a student at Hampden-Sydney College; I worked through the College tutoring Calculus. Recently (in the past month), I've been helping a niece who is in the fourth grade and a friend who is a freshman in high school.
I'm passionate about what I do because I've been through classes in subject matter that I struggled in or was disinterested in and I want to be able to help others feel more comfortable in math where they might be weak or unsure. I know firsthand that great teachers make great students. It took several years to discover my learning style because I had to find it on my own. I want to be able to help students find their own learning style. I believe that subjects are best learned when broken down, and repetition is key. I also believe practice makes perfect.
