A Little Bit About Me...

I hold a BS degree in Mathematics from Salisbury University, where I regularly tutored my peers in various math subjects, physics, and chemistry. I also studied Spanish, with which I can still carry a basic conversation. I also taught English to Spanish-speaking immigrants through the Worcester County Board of Education for about 6 months.
I love to see a person understand something they have been trying so hard to understand. I know that all people are going to learn differently and that I have to determine how a particular person learns. I am a very patient person, and I know that if a person is not understanding a subject, I just need to find another way to explain it. Every student has the capability to learn.

My level of education can best be described as PhD candidate with all but defense, at SUNY Binghamton. My anticipated advanced degree is in organic synthesis. During the period I have been a graduate student I tutored all manner of chemistry, worked as a teaching assistant, taught organic chemistry for Kaplan and carried out my dissertation research which involved experimentation. In addition to the experience above I have worked as a teacher in high school for Baltimore County Public Schools and also in Kenya, I worked as a teacher and later as an analyst for food and drug department. As an undergraduate, I became a chemistry tutor for two high school students in my junior and senior years. This experience led me to return to college for post-baccalaureate work in order to receive certification in the state of Maryland for education in chemistry. Additionally, I received a physics minor which benefited me greatly when I began my educational career in Maryland teaching various levels of high school chemistry and introduction to chemistry and physics for 7 years. As a part of teaching these courses, I also have had to teach algebra I skills which are necessary in order to be successful in these courses.
