Individual Attention for Classroom Success

As a teacher and parent of three children, I have experience in teaching and learning for every age group. I currently teach "at risk" students who are behind in their academic studies and this involves a lot of one-on-one tutoring to help them relearn materials they have missed. My preferred teaching style is discussion with leadership. When the student can relate to the information through own experience or peer experience the information is better absorbed. In a classroom situation a certain amount of lecture is also needed to stimulate the conversation and present the subject materials. As a tutor it would be more a discussion and personal discovery that isn't as easy with a large class.
