Since Mich of humanity's understanding is based on metaphor, description and its subtleties is a key part of any writing process, be it creative or instructional.My favorite form of writing is creative, however I also enjoy writing essays and other pieces based on fact. I have been teaching students with special needs for the past 14 years. I have experience with preschool through 6th grade. I also worked at Sylvan Learning Center, where I worked with students through 12th grade. I enjoy helping children discover new areas, encouraging them to move way from the trite and trivial to new and daring concepts in their research. Often a trivial fact that they never knew will open the doors to opportunities they never envisioned. During high school, my teacher requested that I help others in my class and I realized how much I loved helping others understand how accounting works. Also in helping my children with their school work, I have learned that each child is different and learns in different ways. I would describe my style of teaching as finding out how a particular student learns best and work form that foundation. Some learn better by seeing an example and then working it out on their own with someone to consult if they get stuck. Other learn better with what they hear and others what they read. A Little Bit About Me...

Young children learn best through things that have meaning to them. For example, I once tutored a child that had difficulty learning his multiplication tables, but was an avid NASCAR fan. I taught him the sums of multiplication problems by using the numbers on the drivers cars. He learned that the sum of 6x4, and 4x6 was equal to Jeff Gordon's number, which was 24. We did that with every car in NASCAR and people were amazed at how quickly he learned his multiplication tables. Multiplication tables became a breeze to him. I have used similar principals teaching phonics, and reading to young children. I also, have a history of being patient and understanding with elementary aged children.
