I am a mechanical engineer 2008 graduate from Virginia Commonwealth University and currently working with power company. In addition to majoring in Mechanical Engineering, I have minors in maths and physics. I love doing maths and physics. Post-pubescent persons have a great capacity to learn abstract material; all that is necessary to open that potential is to motivate them. I do not specialize in that motivation. I do, however, excel at taking a puzzled student and explaining the difficult material in a way that makes sense to him or her. Mnemonic devices, simplifications, and advanced tools contribute to progress for any student of mine. As a typically destitute college student, I chose to supplement my income with the knowledge I knew best. This covered non-biological sciences and mathematics, as well as conversational Spanish and English literary composition up to the sophomore college level, Over the last five years, though the three years of my undergraduate education were the most busy, both peers and high school students took advantage of my services.

For just over a decade I have been involved in some form of peer education or mentoring. As a senior in high school, I tutored students in mathematics and science. As an ACS Certified Chemist, I have been exposed to upper level mathematics, chemistry and physics, but am still required to use writings skills in preparing various reports and papers. The opportunity to be a Teaching Assistant in upper-level chemistry and mathematics was rewarding and reinforcing at the same time. I have served in a variety of leadership roles, both academic and extra-curricular, that have shaped the person I am today.
