As a student at the University of Chicago, I have tutored at the local Ray Elementary school through the Neighborhood Schools program. There, I tutored two fourth grade ESL students, an Italian boy and a Korean girl, primarily in math and reading. I have also tutored at the STRIVE tutoring center, helping a 7th grader and 8th grader with math and reading. Learning should be fun. I strive to make a point of this when ever I teach. I do this in both lectures and tests. I find a little humor takes the edge off test taking and allows the student to concentrate on the subject matter without being nervous.

A Little Bit About Me...

I truly enjoy helping children reach their full potential. I believe that children who don't understand a subject just haven't had it explained to them in their way of learning and I believe I can find their way. I use patience, understanding, and humor to ease their minds but still am able to convey a sense of high expectation of them. Then, I explain concepts to them in a variety of ways until they can comprehend the subject manner. This includes using diagrams, creating a real-life situations where the concept is applied, drawing analogies that to which they can relate, or developing a game out of the lesson.
