I graduated on December 16th, 2011 from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore with a bachelors degree in Music Education with Cum Laude Honors (3.4 GPA). Trumpet is my PRIMARY instrument. My teaching style varies on how I feel the student will learn best. Sometimes that may be through demonstration, others though sound. Some students read music better while others learn better through rote. I student taught for sixteen weeks from August 22nd, 2011 thru December 2nd, 2011. My first eight weeks I worked at a middle school and taught symphonic band, beginner band, and private lessons. During these eight weeks, I gained much experience working with students at all levels and abilities and reached the potential of every student to the best I could. I have been teaching in special education institutions for the past 13 years, working with children having physical, mental, emotional, and/or learning disabilities. My degree in music has provided me work in other areas of performing arts including dance, acting, and singing. I enjoy working in both one-to-one and classroom/band environments. I have a background in brass and percussion as well as music theory and I am a great believer in widening learners' horizons to what music will give my students both now and for their entire lives. I have tutored students from across the world in one-to-one and classroom situations. My recorded works include a bass trombone concerto (Simón Bolívar Orchestra).
