I have been teaching children of all ages in many settings for the past 6 years. I have worked with students of all levels and helped them be successful. In college I tutored elementary through college students including English Language Learners, in various subjects. All children can succeed in school given the right tools; just because they do not get the idea from one method does not mean that they won't get it from a different method. A Little Bit About Me...

Although I have earned my degree, BS in Psychology, my previous education includes 2 years at St. John's College in Santa Fe, New Mexico and 2 years of Engineering at Oregon State University. The years at St. John's have given me the unusual ability to tutor students in Ancient Greek. They laid a foundation in Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry and Calculus which the years of Engineering built up further. A Little Bit About Me...

I have always preferred an interactive teaching style. At times in Mongolia I found the language barrier to be inhibiting the learning of the students. This caused me to explore different teaching methods which I otherwise would have never considered. For example, I often chose to teach language by acting out the word or phrase, or having a student act it out. However, there were some classes that were not responsive to this type of teaching and, as a result I resorted to what I had previously considered arcane and authoritarian: repetitious call and response, and by rote. These methods proved to be effective for certain classes. As a result, I am now open to any possible number of teaching methods.
