If "Math" is a nightmare, brace yourself for a sweetdream.

Breaking step down till a layman can understand and I love to be interrupted with questions.
I have tutored math very often and over the course of helping others, I've learned the British ways of solving a math problem is extremely easy while the American ways are a bit confusing for the students. I could remember a day while working at Dollar Tree HQ in the Finance Department, a math problem arises and it took my supervisor 12 minutes while I solved it in 45 seconds. We arrived at the same answer however, time is of the essence.

Don't risk your grade/money on mere paper qualifications

My teaching style relies heavily on feedback from the client. I try to have a phone call with a student to learn what they are having difficulty with but also what their professor might expect from them. Then I get a good sense of their personality to understand the best way to get ideas across to them. There are often roadblocks to learning such as personal hangups or self doubt that must be addressed. Other times it is just a matter of understanding what the person does or does not get.
You will see many ads by former or current professors trying to make a buck on the side. They are terrible tutors - they spent their whole careers having students beg them for a better grade. I had an amazing biology teacher in high school who was upbeat, interactive and made learning, memorable and fun. I try to take this same approach myself to figure out what is important to students and play on their interests and strengths to help them learn. I typically try a couple of different styles, like flash card memorization, word association (sometimes seemingly unrelated but the funnier and more obscure they are, tend to stick in the memory better), picture association, etc. Having effective discussions about subject matters, particularly with difficult topics, can help the student gain a more in depth understanding.
