I teach in a high school Resource Room, a program designed primarily for students with learning disabilities or at-risk students- those students who are at-risk of failing a subject due to reading/comprehension difficulties, the fast pace of the regular classroom, or a learning style that does not fit the traditional classroom. My expertise is designing a course of study that fits the individual needs of the student - finding out how they learn best so they are able to learn. I tutor all core subject areas in the Resource Room and I have also tutored on-line for Sylvan Educate Online in Remedial Reading and Math. When most high school seniors were registering for classes, they had an easy agenda planned. My intentions were entirely different. I decided to challenge myself the final year and study more science coursework than was needed for me to sufficiently graduate. In addition, I was the kind of friend that was reliable in understanding course concepts, so most of my friends and some other peers were coming to me for help. During my time at the University of Missouri-Columbia, I earned two degrees: a BA in Philosophy and a BA in Theater. I try to present a concept or fact in several different ways so that I can resonate with the students thinking style. I have been told that I am a very good communicator and educator and can make concepts that seem complicated look much simpler and more comprehendible.
