A Little Bit About Me...

In 2009 I graduated with a BS in Statistics from Virginia Tech. I also received a minor in Business. Before recently moving to Charlotte, NC I worked as a contracted consultant for a company called Mountaineer Capital LLP in Charleston, WV. I feel this experience along with extensive knowledge of math and sciences makes me capable of teaching others.
I believe that my teaching style is very hands on and easy to follow. I have the ability of simplifying statistical and mathematical procedures into easier, more understandable terms. I am very patient and this allows me to better adapt to a child's specific learning needs and education level. My best teachers were the one's that made me feel comfortable asking questions and admitting when I do not fully understand a concept. I hope to apply this teaching style to my own in order to make my pupils feel the same way.

Upon graduating from Johns Hopkins with a degree in writing, I substitute taught full-time at the high school and the middle school levels in the small upstate New York town where I grew up. Since my days as a substitute teacher, I have worked as a freelance writer, Senior Editor at a major publishing company, Senior Copywriter at an ad agency, and attended grad school.
