I have a BA in Philosophy/Religious Studies and I also studied Environmental Science with over 40 credit hours. Due to this wide range of studies, I have strong skills in both reading and writing, as well as in math and science. During my college experience I tutored my peers and for the last two years I have been a Sunday School Teacher and a Youth Pastor. I have also spent time as a volunteer tutor for homeschooling students.

After finishing my PhD I went to work for Monsanto as an organic analytical chemist. My speciality was the use of mass spectrometry to understand organic chemical reactions and the products and impurities that were formed. While working for Monsanto I also taught College chemistry classes (Organic I and II and the labs). I have over forty publications and forty presentations. I am the author of two books on Organic Analytical Chemistry. I was also honored by being appointed a Science Fellow in Monsanto. I am currently scheduled to teach Organic Chemistry I this summer at the University of West Florida.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have taught in many environments under many circumstances. My work as a geometry tutor for a 10th grade enabled me to learn to explore teaching methods that best suited him. As a TA, I reviewed concepts that helped reiterate important biological facts. Because my boss was a Biology Education specialist, she taught us teaching methods like hands-on activities and an inquisitive teaching style that makes concepts stick. I started tutoring math when I attended Faulkner State College. I then attended the University of South Alabama where I tutored math and physics. I have tutored all levels of math and also tutored not only physics, but lab activites as well.
I have always been a quick learner when it comes to mathematics. It is something that comes almost natural to me. With that said, I understand that this is not the case for everyone. I feel that a good majority of people hate math because they don't understand math, and because they don't understand math right away, they don't try to understand it. I had a wise professor once tell me, "Math isn't difficult; there is no such thing as difficult math. It just seems difficult because you haven't learned it yet". I think math can be easy for anyone, they just have to learn it first.

Coming from a family of educators, I knew from an early age that I would become a teacher myself; therefore, all the steps taken to prepare for my professional life have been to enable me to be the best teacher I can be. I received both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the University of South Alabama. I received classroom teaching experience at a local middle school and as a university instructor.
