Teaching with compassion for the learner is my style of teaching. Making students understand their abilities and not dwell on any weaknesses are important for learning. I take ESL students at their level and help them make progress that is relevant to their lives.
I have taught (intermittently) college level English for 20 years. I have also taught ESL in public schools for 8 years. I believe that learning needs to be fun, but that students need, and most of the time want, structure in their classrooms. I believe that learning needs to be relevant to students. They need to know why and where in their lives they will need or be using what they are being taught. I use a variety of instuctional methods while teaching (lecture, discussions,group activities, etc.) so students stay interested and because every student learns differently. A Little Bit About Me...

I earned both of my degrees while working and caring for very young children. I feel this was possible because of my time management skills and determination to see a task through to completion. I have worked in the accounting or banking industry for over thirty years and truly love working with numbers.
