My teaching style varies depending on the type of students I am teaching to because I believe that each student has a particular learning style that they find easier. I think that it is important to find the types of learning that each student finds easiest to understand, and tailor the course so that it works well with their particular learning abilities. This can easily be done in a classroom setting as well as an individual basis. In either case, while I am teaching I think that it is important to understand the topic we are on before moving to the next one. Slowing down to completely grasp each idea helps students to gain confidence in their learning ability, and actually helps the classroom or individual to progress much faster overall. I was first employed as instructor by Honeywell Aerospace (Phoenix) where I taught clients how to use various avionics and navigation systems for business jets. I did that for 5 years. The job required flexibility giving 1-on-1 as well as large-audience, seminar-type technical training. Later I worked as a simulator instructor at Simuflite (Dallas) teaching and certifying people how to fly business jets. I also have extensive experience writing/editing pilot manuals for various avionics systems.

I have a very solid math background, so I know what concepts students should be learning at their age/level. Therefore, if the students don't have material prepared that they would like to study with me, I can quickly compose exercises for them to do. I ask a lot of questions and try to get the students to figure out the solutions themselves. When they get stuck I give subtle hints until the light bulb goes off. I often explain a concept and then have students watch me solve a problem, then have them do one themselves.
