I was valedictorian of my high school class. I was also good in sports and music. I went to college at Iowa State University and finished at the University of South Dakota with a major in communication disorders and a minor in psychology. I have a strong training background. I have held jobs in which I was a manager, which required me to train staff. I also taught computer classes (Microsoft, Internet, Basic PC) at Western Iowa Tech for a few years. I earned A's throughout my high school career; and I excelled in college in math, science and English, though I would no longer be comfortable teaching high-level science.

I prefer one on one settings for teaching, but I have no problem standing in front of people. I use my work experience to apply what the student has learned in the classroom and instruct them how the subject is applied in today's work force. I am able to give instructions and address feedback when applicable. Although I have not taught in a formal classroom, I have held numerous professional meetings in the past for previous employers. During my time at the University of Missouri-Columbia, I earned two degrees: a BA in Philosophy and a BA in Theater. I also took many writing classes, focusing on different types of creative writing, from fiction to poetry to playwrighting. When I graduated in 2002, I spent several years in Barcelona, Spain working with college students. During that time, I tutored students in both English and Spanish, and several times taught introductory Spanish courses to students involved in summer exchange programs.
