I took music lessons for over 10 years, and can empathize with students as they learn and practice. I have one year experience in tutoring 4th graders in math and English, and have one year experience in tutoring elementary students in music theory and education. As a nutrition student and future dietitian, part of job includes counseling patients on nutrition and a healthy diet. A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy seeing children discover the world around them in their own ways. Therefore, I teach the importance of working things out until you understand it for yourself. Children will meet and often surpass any goal that is given to them if you show that you believe in them. I use a hands-on approach, as much as possible, with a problem-solving emphasis. I firmly believe that a child remembers things more if he is able to work it out for himself. As a result, I take more of a mentoring position the older the child is. It was in this way that my daughter received both an AA and an AS degree the night she received her high school diploma.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a teacher, my goal has always been to increase student achievement. I've taught 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 6th grade. Although my concentration has been mostly in elementary education, I am highly competent in Mathematics specifically in Algebra, English, Linguistics, Writing, History, and Reading. I've also attended the Princeton Review seminars to prepare me for the SATs and GREs; and from that experience I've also prepared my students for the state exams and how to be better test takers. Overall, I understand the dynamics of education and I'm fully aware on how I can prepare our children to successfully face those challenges.
