I have always had a strong appreciation for education and learning new things. My educational experience was strengthened when I attended Cornell College, which has a strong liberal arts program. I immediately took an interest in the sciences and pursued a Bachelor's degree in Biology/Pre-medicine. My education was additionally complimented when I immersed myself in several language, mathematic, English, and humanity courses, which gave me a strong diversity in the liberal arts curriculum. Due to the smaller class sizes at Cornell, most of the exams were given in essay form, which strengthened my writing skills immensely. During the course of the last 11 years after graduating, I have tutored students in English, mathematics, and the sciences. I have had a passion for reading all of my life. I pursued a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Wisconsin, which I received in 1973. I have taught children of all ages and disabilities in all academic areas. I prefer working with younger students. I have been published in a national education journal, "The Clearinghouse." I had an assistantship to an ecucation professor at the University of Iowa, where I received my master's degree in special education. I have woeked in small-group and one-to-one settings. I attended Sarah Lawrence College, where I studied English and Spanish literature, Ancient Greek, history and philosophy. I graduated with an MFA in English from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop in May of 2008, and I am currently the Provost’s Post-Graduate Writing Fellow in fiction at the University of Iowa.
