In tutoring math, the individual needs to have their homework present and, if available, old/recent tests so they may learn from the past as well as the present. Math adds unto itself, so understanding previous rules and equations are necessary for applying them to future classes. Once the basics are covered properly, seeing to the need for current classes will become much easier and enjoyable. Over several years as a teacher, tutor, and teaching assistant I have had the privilege of refining my teaching strategy. For example, as a physics tutor, I coached a high school senior who was intimidated with the subject how to master it using a simple reproducible foundation. One working with 2nd grade students and the other with 5th grade students. I have also taken many courses to understand context and teaching strategies in all subject areas.

When I first work with a student, I like to get to know the method of teaching that they have already experienced from their math teacher. This allows me to know what sort of methods and teaching styles they student has already been exposed to and thus allow me to elimnate strategies that do not work. Being in sync with the student's teacher is very important. I work very hard to make sure that I am teaching them in a way that they can relate to. I understand how frustrating not being able to grasp something can be, so I make a great effort to be very patient. My goal in tutoring is to help the student enjoy mathematics as much as I have.

I have earned my Ph.D degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Technology in Wroclaw, Poland. For some more years I worked there, where I loved teaching students and doing scientific research. Looking for new challenges I accepted an offer to join College of Engineering at NC State University as a visiting professor. After a few years, when my contract expired, I got a position of Math and Statistics Teacher at Fuquay-Varina High.
