Through my present position as a Substitute Teacher for the School District of La Crosse, my position as a Preschool Teacher, as well as previous experience gained as a student teacher in three placements over the duration of a school year, and volunteer work with the Coulee Region Head Start and Horse Sense for Special Riders (HSSR), I have obtained a wide range of experience with children of varying backgrounds and learning abilities in the age ranges of birth to age eleven. I have experience developing differentiated lesson plans, working within a Professional Learning Community (PLC), and the use of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS). I feel making cards, highlighting, reading out loud helps greatly. Just having someone there that can help you is a wonderful thong to have I am a high school graduate. I am looking at furthering my schooling in art. I love children and the honesty about them. I feel as if someone teaching or learning by someone their own age can make a big difference. I have been a student mentor for many teenagers and younger children not only through school but through Facebook. Many students come to me with questions about school, family, and just life in general. They know they can trust me to give the best advice I can. ( which also includes sometimes telling their parents if they are hurting themselves or being hurt) I am a responsible person.

One notable experience was when I served as a program supervisor for the winterim study abroad program for the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire (UWEC). This experience enabled me to interpret and translate in a more professional and efficient way by supervising volunteers and conducting most of the events. As a graduate student in Evolutionary Biology at Texas A&M University, I worked as a teaching assistant in undergraduate ecology and zoology labs. I found this experience to be very rewarding and went on to pursue a MA in Instruction. Since completing both graduate degrees in 2008, I have been teaching undergraduate biology at Winona State University. I enjoy a variety of teaching settings. Whether it's a large lecture hall or one-on-one tutoring, I find the challenge of finding the best, most effective instructional methods to be very rewarding.
