Experience Summary

Through a challenging secretary position in IEVA and interning at the International Affairs Office of Shaoguan University, my translation/interpretation skills got enhanced and professionalized. One notable experience was when I served as a program supervisor for the winterim study abroad program for the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire (UWEC). This experience enabled me to interpret and translate in a more professional and efficient way by supervising volunteers and conducting most of the events. I also provided necessary assistance for American students on a daily basis, made sure that the program went well every day, and finally achieved a satisfactory approval from both UWEC faculties and the Director-General of International Affairs Office. For most of the experience I have obtained there were several important events that strengthened my translation skills. The international art festival in Guangzhou gave me the first opportunity to supervise a group of interpreters for artists around the world. I gained on-site coordinating skills along with basic management by assigning different volunteers a changeable schedule on a daily basis. Also, I helped artists with translating video footage into Chinese for the needs of an art performance. I was also a private tutor for both high school and junior high students in English and Geography from 2008 to 2010. These experiences, have allowed me to develop myself, get to know more about the societies on both a domestic and international level, and the most important: to be teacher for every aspect.
