I like to take students step-by-step through the process of finding answers to complicated questions. I am a strong believer in teaching the student to think for his or herself. If I'm asked a question, I prefer to help the student find the solution rather than simply give the answer. Through college, I learned that the best way to absorb information fast is to find patterns. Through college I worked with many students in Organic Chemistry. The first thing I teach students is preparation. Many students have a tendency to put off studying until the night before an exam. Organic Chemistry is one of the first classes where student needs to develop a study schedule. Second I emphasize the fundamental concepts. The content is too much to memorize and students become overwhelmed. Third I teach attitude. There is a point when students realize their potential. The point where "this class is too hard" turns into not being afraid of a challenge.
