Over the last 4-6 years I've had to teach coworkers the intricacies of engine technology (basic hydrocarbon breakdown and nitrogen depleting systems) to basic geometry and electrical circuits ( from creating concentric bends in pipe to large scale automated systems). Specifically, I start with the standards: what needs to be learned. Working backwards, I break the standards up into smaller concepts. Some students learn by example and repetition, while some need hands-on activities in order to process the main concept and remember it.
